Huang Boqing, the founder of GROTTO, was born in Xiamen, Fujian, who studied design-related knowledge at 

Central Saint Martins College of Art in London with Karman Sarwar. The growing environment in the East and the

learning experience in the West make him pay attention to the balance between the simplicity of the East and the 

liberalism of the West in his designs.


He calls himself "HuangHuhu", free but not loose. He enjoy traveling and wandering without boundaries, which 

allows him to draw inspiration from multiculturalism. Such as hippie culture, ancient Egyptian cat god culture, 

American road culture and so on. Through his understanding, these spiritual connotations are often integrated 

into the handbags designed by GROTTO. "BORN FOR FREEDOM" is not only the founder's own value concept of 

travel and life, but also the value and potential of GROTTO's design change and growth.
